About Static

In early 2008, journalist and youth advocate Billy Hallowell launched Static News – a dynamic super-blog committed to presenting news, commentary and perspective on some of the toughest and most relevant social and political issues affecting contemporary American society. In July 2008, Billy invited Stephen Nichols from MTV’s Real World Denver to join him in transforming Static News into a nationwide project aimed at getting America’s young generation (ages 13-30) motivated, educated and prepared to make informed decisions during the 2008 presidential campaign.

Re-launching on August 22, 2008, Static News will become an interactive web site that provides candidate perspective, a weekly radio program and plenty of vibrant discussion and debate. Billy — a McCain supporter and Stephen — an Obama enthusiast — are here to provide you with a full picture of where their candidates stand.

Static News is committed to providing insightful opinion throughout the 2008 presidential campaign, while encouraging young Americans to get involved and to take a stand. Static News plans to lead the Millennial Generation into the depths of the 2008 campaign — and beyond. At Static, we believe that abortion, gun rights, stem cell research, global warming, national security, health care and other relevant issues must be addressed. Young Americans have a collective responsibility to ensure that the nation’s future is safe, secure and prosperous for every man, woman and child.

Aside from weekly blog debates, Billy and Stephen host a weekly radio show (launching August 24, 2008).
